Aftercare Guide
Traditional Aftercare
The traditional route of aftercare includes washing your tattoo twice a day for two weeks with Dial Gold. This is an unscented, antibacterial soap. After washing gently, but thoroughly, apply a thin layer of Hustle Butter after each time you wash your tattoo. This can be purchased on Amazon or at Ulta.
Saniderm / View Guard
Saniderm / View Guard can be put on here at the shop after your appointment if you choose to go this route. This product wears like a second skin and is ideal for people who work dirty jobs, feel they will not have the time to properly take care of their tattoo or swim frequently. This wrap is applied twice. The first one will be applied at the shop and worn for 2 days. After the 2 days, you'll take the wrap off in the shower and wash your tattoo with Dial Gold. Allow the tattoo to air dry completely before applying the second wrap.
The second wrap will be left on up to 7 days. When you remove the second wrap, your tattoo will be through the peeling stage. This product contours to your body, allows you to swim, get in a hot tub, keeps out dirt and relieves some of the itching that comes from the healing process. This product is not ideal for clients who are sensitive to adhesives.
What not to do
Unless you have Saniderm / View Guard on, do not submerge your tattoo in water; This does not include getting it wet in the shower. Do not lay out in the sun or in a tanning bed while your tattoo is healing. If you are out in the sun during the healing process, keep the tattoo covered and out of the sun. Do not apply sunscreen to the tattoo while it is still healing, only apply the Hustle Butter. Do not pick at the tattoo while it peels. Picking at not only introduces bacteria but it can pull the ink out of your skin resulting in bare spots or even scarring. Do not let your tattoo dry out. Peeling is normal but you should keep enough Hustle Butter on your tattoo so that your tattoo does not scab. Do not scrub your tattoo with a loofa or a rag when washing it, only hand wash.
